Global Gardens By Global Gardens

Global Gardens | Olive Oil Times

    Tasting Notes and Food Pairings:

Our Certified Organic Estate Oils have the terroir of sage, as our Los Alamos, CA Estate grove is in the La Purisimia foothills, covered with California sage as far as the eyes can see. Suggested food pairings: Leg of lamb, salmon, pasta, sautes, anywhere you want a full-flavored dish!

    Company History:

Global Gardens was the first to plant a Certified Organic olive grove in Santa Barbara county, specifically for the purpose of producing Extra Virgin Olive Oils. We are consistent winners at the L.A. County Fair over a broad range of categories. Our oils are medium to robust in character. We grow 5 varietals: Farga, Mission, Manzanilla, Koroneiki and Kalamata. We also purchase and press the harvest fromover 20,000 additional trees between our own county and 3 counties north of us–varieties we don’t grow ourselves, like Ascolano, Arbequina and other Italain & Spanish varietals. Our owner, Theo Stephan, has written a popular cookbook, Olive Oil & Vinegar For Life: Delicious Recipes For Healthy Caliterranean Living, available at all book sellers and on our website. She strives to educate on all things olive oil and is available for presentations, team building exercises and culinary classes!

    Production Methods:

While our Koroneiki is our favorite, we grow 5 varietals and do blends of our oils too! We hand-harvest and crush the fruit within 24 hours on a Certified Organic stone mill. We imported 500 Koroneiki trees from Crete back in the mid-1990’s…and were the first to plant this varietal in all of southern California! Our owner’s mother is from Greece, her father is from Macedonia…so this varietal is near and dear to not only our taste-buds, but our hearts & family history!
