Historians acknowledge that the olives were first cultivated in the Eastern part of the Mediterranean, in the region known as the “fertile crescent,” and moved westwards over the millennia. As the first western outpost of the Great Silk Road and a major trade city for the Roman Empire, Antioch was exploited to be the center of olive oil production before olive trees were planted in the entire Mediterranean basin under Roman rule.
Even after the fall of the Roman Empire, olive oil production remained as a tradition in Antioch where many families have earned their living from olive cultivation. Sifa Zeytinyaglari, as one of those traditional (Antioch, Altinozu, Hatay) family businesses, has been operating in the region with generations of experience in the production of high quality olive oil.
Founded in 1986, Sifa Olive Oil and Soap Industry Co. soon grew to be one of the leading companies in the olive oil industry. In 2005, the company expanded its operations overseas, exporting to foreign markets (Western, Far East and Middle East countries) with its Sifa and Gold Drop brands.
Based on the core principle of producing a high quality product while remaining dedicated to the traditional history and values of Antioch’s olive oil production, the company took on the challenge of creating a product that embodies the ancient tradition of olive oil making while taking advantage of the modern technology.
We choose the fresh fruits from age-old olive trees in our grove that are cultivated, nurtured and locally collected in their natural and organic environment.
We use a first cold press method in order to obtain the unique aroma of the olives given by the rich soil of the region as well as to preserve natural antioxidants. Our freshly-pressed olive oil (with low acidity level and excellent organoleptic properties) is produced at room temperature and stored in stainless steel tanks to ensure that all the nutrients present in the olive are living and therefore intact.
Thus, we are able to offer you a product of excellent taste and the highest quality, while preserving all the beneficial ingredients of olives.
Our products are manufactured with utmost care, using advanced technology at a state-of-the-art plant that has been awarded TSE Product Certificate (Turkish Standard Institute), TS EN ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System Certificate, TS EN ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety Management Certificate and CQICC (Commercial Quality Inspection Competence Certificate).
We adopt a superior quality conception by testing and analyzing the hand-picked olives (that are cultivated in a way that is natural and without pesticides) in our well-equipped laboratory.
