Well, techÂniÂcally speakÂing, olive oil is a liqÂuid fat obtained from olives (the fruit of Olea europaea; famÂily Oleaceae). If you crush a bunch of olives, you’ll get olive oil and some water. Gravity takes care of that — the oil will soon float to the top where it can be removed. That’s how simÂple olive oil really is.
