ExpoHuelma Under Way in Jaén, Spotlight on Olive Oil

Deputy Agriculture and Environment, Angel Vera, and the del­e­gate of the Caretaker Government, Rafael Valdivielso, inau­gu­rated ExpoHuelma, the annual trade fair held in Sierra Mágina, Spain this week­end,.

The 28th edi­tion of the event, run­ning from August 25th to the 28th at the munic­i­pal sports com­plex, aims to pro­mote the tourism, hand­i­craft, live­stock and agri-food indus­tries, among oth­ers. This year more than 130 com­pa­nies are show­cas­ing their prod­ucts.

The Jaén provin­cial gov­ern­ment has its own stand at the fair focus­ing espe­cially on pre­sent­ing extra vir­gin olive oils. The goal is to raise aware­ness about the region’s excel­lent liq­uid gold” selec­tion, includ­ing those under the Jaén Selección 2011 label and olive oils from Designations of Origin through­out the province, and in par­tic­u­lar the DO Sierra Mágina.

Attendees will be able to par­tic­i­pate in olive oil tast­ings, work­shops, and cook­ing pre­sen­ta­tions. The provin­cial gov­ern­ment will also have entry forms on hand for the 9th International Award for Cuisine with Olive Oil; the dead­line for reg­is­tra­tion is October 14th.
