The first global proÂviÂsional figÂures for the 2019/20 olive oil harÂvestÂing seaÂson in Spain show a slight reducÂtion in proÂducÂtion, but other proÂducÂing counÂtries are expected to see improved figÂures comÂpared to the preÂviÂous year. The total global yield of olive oil for the upcomÂing seaÂson is estiÂmated to reach 3.67 milÂlion tons, with Spain expected to yield 1.35 milÂlion tons, Italy 270,000 tons, Greece 300,000 tons, Portugal 130,000 tons, Tunisia 350,000 tons, and the rest of the world conÂtributÂing 70,000 tons.

For the upcomÂing seaÂson, Spain’s olive oil secÂtor is expected to yield 1.35 milÂlion tons of olive oil, someÂwhat less than the 1.77 milÂlion tons of the highly proÂducÂtive preÂviÂous harÂvestÂing period. Italy will likely make a jump to 270,000 tons and Greece to 300,000 tons, a big improveÂment from the 175,000 and 185,000 tons they respecÂtively made the past seaÂson.
Portugal’s yield is estiÂmated at 130,000 tons for next year, whereas a record proÂducÂtion is proÂjected for Tunisia with 350,000 tons. The rest of the Mediterranean proÂducÂers are expected to chip in another 400,000 tons of olive oil, and the rest of the world 70,000 tons overÂall.
