The govÂernÂment of the Argentinean province of Catamarca, in coopÂerÂaÂtion with the Ministry of Production and Development, will host this year’s influÂenÂtial Expolivo, a reunion of interÂnaÂtional indusÂtry leadÂers who will gather to disÂcuss the busiÂness and polÂicy of an emergÂing Argentinean marÂket with great promise for the future.
The project will take place from September 9 – 12th and is made posÂsiÂble by joint efforts from Argentinean instiÂtuÂtions, repÂreÂsenÂtaÂtives from acaÂdÂeÂmic instiÂtuÂtions and uniÂverÂsiÂties, and the International Olive Oil Council (IOC), the most sigÂnifÂiÂcant olive oil interÂgovÂernÂmenÂtal orgaÂniÂzaÂtion in the world which disÂcusses susÂtainÂable develÂopÂment and pressÂing polÂiÂcyÂmakÂing issues for the interÂnaÂtional olive oil marÂket.
The event is schedÂuled to begin with a preÂsenÂtaÂtion of new olive oil prodÂucts from around the world, cookÂing shows, varÂiÂous tastÂings, guided visÂits to planÂtaÂtions and innoÂvaÂtions in proÂducÂtion machinÂery. After this, for the first time, a conÂferÂence will be solely dedÂiÂcated to olive oil and health and led by guest expert lecÂturer MarÃa Isabel Covas from Barcelona’s Institution of Biomedical Investigations. Covas is set to give 2 semÂiÂnars on olive oil’s role in carÂdioÂvasÂcuÂlar health and canÂcer preÂvenÂtion and other Argentinean experts will also conÂtribute, proÂvidÂing their own research to supÂport Covas’ claims.
Most imporÂtantly, the expo will serve a world forum for interÂnaÂtional busiÂness negoÂtiÂaÂtions between olive oil importers from around the world. This year’s Expolivo will aim to reach an interÂnaÂtional conÂsenÂsus with respect to the Argentinean industry’s develÂopÂment and global posiÂtionÂing. Industry leadÂers are eager to tap into the budÂding Argentinean marÂket which is set to become a respected proÂducer of qualÂity olive oil after the impleÂmenÂtaÂtion of a busiÂness plan focused on mainÂtainÂing an upgraded value chain.
