La Madre Terra Secures Gold at NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition

Recent News

La Madre Terra, an Italian cooperative known for its extensive olive groves, has been awarded a Gold Award at the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition. The cooperative’s Madreterra Organic Cerasuola was recognized for its quality, extracted from olives cultivated in the Sciacca region.

Founded in 1944 by Accursio Miraglia, La Madre Terra has grown to include around 300 members and manages approximately 1,200 hectares of olive trees. The cooperative operates in the Sciacca area, part of the Val di Mazara PDO, where native olive varieties such as Cerasuola, Biancolilla, and Nocellara have been cultivated for centuries.

The award-winning Madreterra Organic Cerasuola is produced from olives grown at altitudes between 50 and 600 meters above sea level, benefiting from the region’s favorable pedoclimatic conditions. This recognition at the World Olive Oil Competition underscores the cooperative’s commitment to maintaining high standards in olive oil production.

The NYIOOC is a prestigious event in the olive oil industry, attracting entries from producers worldwide. La Madre Terra’s achievement highlights the quality of olive oil produced in Italy and the dedication of its farmers to preserving traditional cultivation methods.

The winning brands are presented in the Official Guide and the Olive Oil Times World Ranking.
