Zylella fas­tidiosa is a plant pathogen, and is trans­mit­ted exclu­sively by xylem fluid feed­ing sap insects. It leads ​‘olive quick decline syn­drome” and has affected hun­dreds of thou­sands of olive trees, mostly in south­ern Italy, but in many other coun­tries as well.
