Olive oil producers around the world wasted no time registering their oils for entry today in the first New York International Olive Oil Competition.

The moment we opened the registration, entries poured in from every olive oil producing region,” said Curtis Cord, publisher of Olive Oil Times and competition president. Producers everywhere know the world’s most important olive oil contest will be held in New York next April, and they want in.”

Registration is online at nyiooc.org — the event website.

The New York International Olive Oil Competition will be held April 16 – 18, 2013 at The International Culinary Center in New York City. Organized by the leading olive oil publication, Olive Oil Times, the three-day event in SoHo will include tastings, workshops and culinary demonstrations by top chefs. The event is sponsored by The International Culinary Center and gourmet retailer Fairway Market.

Olive oil producers don’t want just another olive oil competition — they want the definitive one,” Cord said. ” New York has always been a symbol of opportunity and next April, in a groundbreaking three-day culinary event, we will unveil the world’s best olive oils for all to see.”
