The sevÂenth annual NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the largest event of its kind, began with 907 entries from 26 counÂtries being anaÂlyzed by an interÂnaÂtional panel of experts. The results of the comÂpeÂtiÂtion, which will be announced at a press conÂferÂence on Friday, are conÂsidÂered the most trusted guide to the year’s best extra virÂgin olive oils and will be availÂable for purÂchase through the Best Olive Oils Marketplace.
An interÂnaÂtional panel of experts began anaÂlyzÂing 907 entries from 26 counÂtries this mornÂing at the sevÂenth annual NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition — the largest such event in the world.
At 9 o’clock (EDT) the first samÂples were disÂtribÂuted to 18 judges whose deterÂmiÂnaÂtions will lead to the unveilÂing of this year’s best extra virÂgin olive oils at a press conÂferÂence Friday night attended by proÂducÂers, importers, food indusÂtry proÂfesÂsionÂals and jourÂnalÂists.
Supporting the judges’ analyÂses is a team of 40 dedÂiÂcated staff and techÂniÂcians in New York, and 15 workÂing remotely to manÂage the data in real time.
This Friday at 8:30 PM (EDT), the results of the comÂpeÂtiÂtion will be announced at the press conÂferÂence which will be broadÂcast live. Last year’s press conÂferÂence was watched by more than 11,000 viewÂers around the world includÂing, preÂsumÂably, olive oil proÂducÂers themÂselves lookÂing for their brands among the winÂning entries.
