Registration has opened for the 2016 New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC), the fourth edi­tion of the largest and most pres­ti­gious extra vir­gin olive oil com­pe­ti­tion in the world.

Each year the annual con­test draws some 700 entries from 25 coun­tries to be eval­u­ated over three days in New York City by an inter­na­tional panel of top olive oil tasters.

The win­ners will be known as the World’s Best Olive Oils for 2016 — earn­ing their place on an author­i­ta­tive list of elite oils for chefs and buy­ers around the world who want to find the year’s high­est rated olive oil brands.

A press con­fer­ence announc­ing the results of the com­pe­ti­tion will be broad­cast live at 6:00 PM (22:00 UTC) on April 14, 2016 on the NYIOOC web­site and syn­di­cated through inter­na­tional media chan­nels includ­ing Olive Oil Times, the main spon­sor of the event.

The com­plete list is pre­sented each year on bestoliveoils.org, where details on the win­ning oils include infor­ma­tion about the pro­ducer and where the brand is sold and dis­trib­uted. Buyers can con­tact pro­duc­ers and dis­trib­u­tors directly on the site, mak­ing it eas­ier than ever for mer­chants, culi­nary pro­fes­sion­als and home cooks to source the year’s best oils.

Olive oil brands can be reg­is­tered on the NYIOOC Producer Tools web­site, a plat­form designed by NYIOOC to assist pro­duc­ers and brand man­agers in the pro­mo­tion of their award-win­ning prod­ucts.
