Brief
Italian olive oil proÂducer Miceli & Sensat has been recÂogÂnized with two Gold Awards at the New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC), one of the most presÂtiÂgious olive oil comÂpeÂtiÂtions globÂally. The awards were given for their organic extra virÂgin olive oils, U’Ciuri and Verde.
Miceli & Sensat, founded by Paolo Miceli and Sergio Sensat, operÂates an organic olive grove in Italy, spanÂning 115 hectares and housÂing 46,000 olive trees. The grove feaÂtures five olive variÂeties: Nocellara del Belice, Biancolilla, Cerasuola, Arbequina, and Picual. The comÂpany processes its olives within two hours of harÂvestÂing in its own mill, ensurÂing the preserÂvaÂtion of high organolepÂtic qualÂiÂties.
The U’Ciuri, which won a Gold Award, is an organic EVOO made from the Nocellara del Belice culÂtiÂvar. It is part of the IGP Sicilia selecÂtion that Miceli & Sensat curates annuÂally. The Verde, also a Gold Award recipÂiÂent, is crafted from the Cerasuola culÂtiÂvar and is noted for its fresh, vegÂeÂtal aroÂmas remÂiÂnisÂcent of green almonds, letÂtuce, celÂery, and unripe bananas.
Miceli & Sensat’s comÂmitÂment to qualÂity is furÂther demonÂstrated by their storÂage pracÂtices, which involve using noble gases and conÂtrolled temÂperÂaÂtures to mainÂtain the oils’ integrity. These accoÂlades at the NYIOOC highÂlight the proÂducÂer’s dedÂiÂcaÂtion to excelÂlence in organic olive oil proÂducÂtion.
The winÂning brands are preÂsented in the Official Guide and the Olive Oil Times World Ranking.
