The Gay Farmer Wins Silver at NYIOOC for Organic EVOO

Recent News

The Gay Farmer, a UK-based producer known for its organic extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), has been awarded a Silver at the New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC). The award was given for their early harvest Picual EVOO, which is produced on a biodynamically managed estate in Jaén, Andalusia.

The Gay Farmer, operated by Mark, has been producing EVOO since 2008, initially on a smallholding in Murcia, Spain. The operation has since expanded to collaborate with one of the oldest family-run organic estates in Jaén. The award-winning Picual olives are harvested early and pressed within three hours to ensure quality.

Mark, also known as The Gay Farmer, emphasizes the use of organic, biodynamic, and sustainable farming methods. The focus is on ethical and traceable produce, with a commitment to caring for the environment. The Gay Farmer’s approach aligns with broader trends in sustainable agriculture, aiming to preserve the planet for future generations.

The NYIOOC is the most prestigious competition in the olive oil industry, recognizing excellence in olive oil production worldwide. The Gay Farmer’s recognition at this event highlights the quality and dedication behind their organic EVOO production.

The winning brands are presented in the Official Guide and the Olive Oil Times World Ranking.
