OPG Garmica Achieves Gold at NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition

Recent News

OPG Garmica, a Croatian olive oil producer, has been awarded a Gold at the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition. The award was given for their extra virgin olive oil made from the Levantinka cultivar, a variety endemic to Croatia.

Founded in 2016, OPG Garmica cultivates olive trees in their family grove on the island of Hvar. The grove predominantly features autochthonous Croatian olive varieties, including Levantinka and Oblica. These varieties are known for producing oils with distinctive characteristics, freshness, and fruitiness.

The olive groves on Hvar are small and mostly planted on karst, requiring special care and maintenance. This meticulous approach results in high-quality oils, albeit in limited quantities.

The NYIOOC, also known as the World Olive Oil Competition, is a prestigious event that recognizes excellence in olive oil production globally. OPG Garmica’s recognition at this competition highlights the quality and uniqueness of Croatian olive oils.

The winning brands are presented in the Official Guide and the Olive Oil Times World Ranking.
