Just three weeks before the judging begins, registration for entries closed last Saturday for this year’s New York International Olive Oil Competition. Organizers said more than 670 entries from 25 countries were received, making the contest once again the biggest of its kind.

Concurrent with the competition at the International Culinary Center in Soho, New York will be a two-day conference featuring world-renowned experts presenting the latest information on topics ranging from olive oil marketing trends, packaging design and brand-building to merchandising, importing and distribution.
The conference sold out in just a few weeks. However, there is still an opportunity to benefit from the program via live video stream. Starting today, subscriptions to the feed are available on the event website, nyiooc.org.
Curtis Cord, publisher of Olive Oil Times and NYIOOC president, said offering streaming video was another way to extend the reach of the innovative conference program and raise awareness of olive oil quality and the other topics being explored.
“The program will provide attendees and viewers around the world with highly innovative and practical ideas they can use to add value and build their businesses,” said Cord. “It’s one thing to identify the year’s best olive oils each April at the world’s most important olive oil competition, but how can we reach the consumers who need them?”
The event will stream live video between 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM, (EDT / UTC‑4) on Tuesday April 8 and Wednesday, April 9. Subscribers to the feed will have access to a chat area where topics can be discussed with other viewers, and questions can be posed to speakers as time allows.
