The final estiÂmate for the 2019 olive oil yield in Spain is 1.2 milÂlion tons, eight perÂcent below the five-year averÂage, with Andalusia expectÂing a harÂvest of 984,000 tons, a 32 perÂcent decrease from last year. Good weather conÂdiÂtions have led to upward reviÂsions in the harÂvest estiÂmate, and Spain is expected to increase its subÂstanÂtial olive oil stock to two milÂlion tons due to good harÂvests in other Mediterranean counÂtries.
The final estiÂmate for the 2019 olive oil yield in Spain has come to 1.2 milÂlion tons, about eight perÂcent below the five-year rolling averÂage, accordÂing to data obtained and anaÂlyzed by Oleorevista.
The data comes from varÂiÂous olive oil proÂducer orgaÂniÂzaÂtions as well as sevÂeral regional govÂernÂments.
Andalusia, which is the largest olive oil-proÂducÂing region in the counÂtry by far, is expectÂing a harÂvest of about 984,000 tons. This figÂure repÂreÂsents a 32 perÂcent decrease comÂpared to last year’s record-breakÂing harÂvest and a seven perÂcent decrease comÂpared with the five-year rolling averÂage.
The final estiÂmate for the 2019 harÂvest has been conÂsisÂtently revised upward, in part due to good weather conÂdiÂtions in the autumn. Back in the sumÂmer, proÂducer orgaÂniÂzaÂtions estiÂmated proÂducÂtion would be about one milÂlion tons.
Many olive oil-proÂducÂing nations in the Mediterranean basin are foreÂcasted to have good harÂvests in 2019, which is likely to increase Spain’s subÂstanÂtial olive oil stock to two milÂlion tons.

“[We must] sell much more oil to ensure that proÂducÂtion and conÂsumpÂtion remain balÂanced, and from that balÂance, we have a [susÂtainÂable] price,” Spain’s Association of Young Farmers and Ranchers (Asaja) said in response to the latÂest harÂvest preÂdicÂtion.
